Johanna grew up in Sweden. Early on she developed a passion for horses and spent her first 20 years mastering her equestrian skills. She competed at a national level and coached other horse enthusiasts at the local equestrian centre. Her family’s love for the outdoors, in particular snow sports, eventually brought Johanna to BC. She fell in love with the beautiful and breathtaking nature but also the lifestyle and people who live here. Johanna studied physiotherapy in Sweden at Uppsala University from where she graduated in 2011.

During an extended visit to Whistler she met the love of her life and the rest is history. She enjoys everything the outdoors has to offer and this is where she spends her time with her husband, two sons and their labradoodle. Dealing with her own movement restrictions after injuries and childbirth led her to Pilates and yoga which has deepened her understanding of our body’s function as a whole. Johanna understands the debilitating feeling of not being able to do what you love. She was able to rehabilitate with the combination of Pilates and manual therapies such as IMS, acupuncture and manipulations. The beauty of this unique combination is that it can progress the individual from the early stages of rehab to a conditioned and fully functioning body.

Johanna has one main goal, to have you back participating fully in the activities that matter to you and bring you happiness and joy. She listens to her clients and treats each individual based on their unique history, experiences and needs. She helps each person attain their goals through movement and manual therapy. By using the IKN (Integrated Kinetic Neurology) approach she focuses on leveraging the interaction between the nervous system, anatomy, and the environment to overcome movement restrictions to ultimately live an active and pain free lifestyle.

Pat McKinnon is an orthopaedic physiotherapist and Certified Gunn IMS practitioner who has been practicing throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor since 2008.

Hailing from the majestic foothills of Calgary, Alberta, Pat graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary in 2000. After spending the next few years immersing himself in the idyllic mountain culture of the Canadian Rockies, Pat decided to put all of his hard learned education to good use, so he moved to the west coast to complete his Masters of Physical Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia. Upon graduation in 2007, Pat promptly traded his boutique urban Kitsilano existence for the recreational paradise of the Sea to Sky Corridor, where he’s been practicing and living the dream ever since. He never intended for it to be a permanent move, but you know how that story goes…

A devoted practitioner, Pat greatly values working collaboratively with his clients, taking the time to assess and treat their specific injury needs in a private, one-on-one clinical setting. He uses a variety of hands-on manual therapy techniques, in conjunction with individualized exercise prescription and focused re-training of dysfunctional movement patterns, in order to assist each client with achieving their personal rehabilitation goals.

Pat has post-graduate certifications in IMS and Active Release Techniques (ART), and has completed the Level 3 manual therapy curriculum through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division. He has a special interest in shoulder injuries and post-operative rehabilitation, but he is generally fascinated by the mind-blowing neuromuscular workings of the entire human body, and has undertaken extensive coursework targeting all of the major musculoskeletal regions.

When he’s not in the clinic, Pat is a borderline obsessive freeride snowboarding enthusiast, both on the resort and in the backcountry. He also enjoys pedalling trails, climbing mountains, surfing waves, eating tacos, and not-so-secretly rocking out to sweet ‘80s hair metal jams.

Prior to completing his physiotherapy program, Nick finished his Bachelors in Exercise Science from the University of Winnipeg. He has +10 years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with a wide spectrum of clientele. Throughout his career as a strength coach and physiotherapist, he has worked with young athletes with big aspirations in the junior/bantam levels, all the way to professional athletes in the NHL, NFL, MLB, and Olympics. He also has extensive experience working with the general population, whether that be weekend-warriors looking to rehab an injury or gain some strength, or clientele trying to meet their fitness goals while navigating a chronic disease/disability.

Nick also has a keen interest in research in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, having published research in March 2021 looking at the effects of different forms of exercise on chronic low back pain. He frequently collaborates with other clinicians around the globe about physiotherapy research/practice, helping him to keep up to date with the latest evidence-based treatment and research which he can swiftly apply with his clientele. Finding answers to questions we can’t currently answer is one of the reasons he is so passionate about research, as well as helping people find out answers to their own injury/rehab questions.

With a history of competing in various sports/athletics as well as navigating injuries, Nick enjoys helping people get back to their “normal”. Through clear communication, an open mind, and creating a individual client-centered treatment programs, his approach looks at each client as an “individual” navigating an injury/concern, as opposed to treating an “injury” on a person. Through collaborative goal setting early on, clients are not left in the dark and will understand where they are in their respective rehab process. Utilizing a combination of hands-on treatment/assessments and progressive exercises, Nick will work with you to get you where you want to be, whatever that may look like for you.
